Day 3 & 4
Saturday & Sunday 20 - 21.09.25
Day 3 & 4
Saturday, home day! I just couldn’t wait to get home. It was quite a journey, given that I had to walk, sit, and stand for long periods at a time. Don’t forget though at that time I thought I had only sprained a muscle, so I just kept going. Had I known how bad it was, the old man would have been pushing me around (on 4 wheels I mean).

To be honest the weekend was a blur- filled with lots of messages and phone calls from family, unpacking, sorting, and teaching Paul life skills 😉. There was so much I couldn’t do! And there is so much we take for granted.

Things I couldn’t do: Bend, twist, stand or sit for too long, walk fast, touch my toes or lift anything heavier than a kettle.

That might not sound too bad, but think about all the things you do every day that involve those movements: filling/emptying the washing machine, pegging washing out, cooking, dressing- especially shoes and socks, showering, washing hair, shopping, picking things up off the floor, getting in and out of a chair/bed, shopping, driving. Basically, most things!

But what I really wanted to talk about was how I felt. Apart from the frustration and pain, the worse thing was the effects of the medication 💊.

I was prescribed the following: Paracetamol 2 x three times daily.

Naproxen 1 x twice a day.

Diazepam ½ x 3 times daily.

Omeprazole once a day.

Needless to say, I was out of it most of the time, I couldn’t think clearly and there were side effects that made me feel awful, mainly nausea and severe acid reflux. I wasn’t sure what was worse, living with the pain, or taking the meds 😔? So, I turned to herbal teas.
