Working with Health & Social Care: Resilience as Prevention

We offer a practical, evidence-informed service that can be integrated into social prescribing pathways to support individuals living with chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ME), anxiety, depression, and trauma-related stress. These conditions often leave individuals feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and misunderstood — yet they frequently fall through the gaps in mainstream services.

Our sessions provide a vital middle ground:

  • Sensory-based, trauma-informed group experiences that calm the nervous system and reduce physical and emotional reactivity

  • Tools for self-regulation and pacing, helping individuals manage energy, pain, emotions, and anxiety

  • Opportunities for connection and shared understanding, which reduce isolation and build confidence

By supporting individuals to shift out of chronic fight-or-flight and into a more regulated state, we help them make sustainable improvements in well-being, self-awareness, and day-to-day functioning.

Cost-Effective and Sustainable

People with chronic conditions are high users of GP services, yet often find that traditional medical interventions alone don’t address the psychosocial dimensions of their illness. This can lead to repeat appointments, frustration, and a sense of hopelessness — the “revolving door” effect.

Social prescribing models that include nervous system regulation, emotional resilience, and peer-based support have been shown to:

  • Reduce GP appointments and medication reliance

  • Improve quality of life and self-management

  • Offer significant cost savings over time (King’s Fund, 2022; NHS England Long Term Plan)

By intervening early and building resilience holistically, we not only prevent escalation and dependency on services, but also empower people to live more meaningful, connected lives — even in the presence of long-term health conditions.
